Initial treatment:
The traditional Chinese medicine theory believes that different parts of the human body are all connected and affect each other. We believe that most of the diseases, regardless of their names and nature, stem from injured tendons and tissues in the body. Where it hurts may or may NOT be where the true problem exist. Hence, during the initial treatment, we need to work on the whole body to make diagnosis.
During the first treatment, our staff will give you a full body massage which may cause pain in areas you may or may not be aware of. The purpose of the massage is to relax the “injured” tendons and tissues which may cause internal, skeletal, or even psychological diseases.
It is vitally important that you communicate with our staff to let them know where it hurts during the massage. Simply puts it, wherever it hurts, it is causing a health problem somewhere in your body. The pain level is proportional to the severity of the disease. Your feedback during the treatment is the primary way for us to know which part of your body to work on. Please don’t be shy! If it hurts, promptly inform us where and how much it hurts. You can give us a number from 0-10, with 0 meaning no pain and 10 meaning “I absolutely can’t take it anymore!”

What to do when it hurts a lot:
During the massage, whenever you feel the pain is overwhelming, please let our staff know. We approach these problematic areas in the following way: we will work briefly on the spots and encourage you to communicate the level of pain to our staff. In a about one and half minute, we then move on to the other parts, but will come back to this spot in a few minutes. If the problem is not severe, the tendon or tissue will be sufficiently relaxed as to not cause as much pain in a few minutes. Therefore, when we get back to the spot, you should not feel as painful as before.
If severe pain persists, it means the tendon or tissue needs more time to relax. It is then advised that you book several sessions on separate days to treat the spot, with one week in between sessions.

Aftercare:
To speed up the healing of your body and maintain a general good health, please try your best to follow the advises on our aftercare instruction, which you will get by the end of your session. The key phrases for your aftercare are: keep your body warm, avoid cold food and drinks, drink ginger water, and maintain a regular schedule.
- Keep a regular schedule. Do not overtire your body.
- Regularly brew ginger water with chopped up fresh ginger roots and drink a cup when it is still hot. Chinese believe that ginger roots help “heat” up the body and promote good circulation.
- Avoid cold drinks or food. Keep your body warm inside and out is key for your recovery as well as maintaining the results of your massage.
- Check back every month or so to maintain good health or identify new problems.
